Current News

Greetings –

The theme for first Network Gathering for 2012 on Thursday 23rd February at Modbury is Sharing Resources: Church and Community. You are invited to bring a group from your congregation to hear Modbury and Para Vista congregations’ stories on this theme, enjoy their hospitality, share your own stories, renew ‘old’ acquaintances and make new connections. RSVP to me (email: Christine Secombe) by Sunday evening 19th February 2012.

The induction of a Minister into the life of a congregation is an exciting moment and Christ Church Wayville have invited us to share with them in welcoming Rev Nicholas Rundle into their congregation. It will be lovely to see you at Nicholas’s induction at 7.30 pm on Friday 10th February.

Also available for download (see below) is a registration form for the Workshop for Chairs and Secretaries of Church Councils and Congregations to be held at Scots Church Adelaide on Saturday morning 11th February. Thank you to those who have already registered. If you have not yet registered, I look forward to hearing from you soon – I’m happy with an email advice if that is more convenient than using the registration form.

Kind regards
Christine Secombe

What is the UMN?

Members from nineteen Uniting Church congregations meet about four times a year at different participating churches around Adelaide encouraging each other in ministry and mission, sharing resources and providing mutual support.

The participating churches are all of a similar size in their communities and located in prominent shopping precincts. The Urban Mission Network provides an opportunity to support each other and education on topics that will help us grow. It is important to find out what the other congregations are doing and offers the chance to share resources. It is organised to replace presbytery’s.

The Urban Mission Network Bulletin would like to highlight the following events:

Social Justice forums with Rev Elenie Poulos, National Director Uniting Justice Australia, at Morialta on Sunday 18th April and Wednesday 21st April

Art Exhibition at Blackwood 15th – 18th April

Gretta Vosper’s evening in Adelaide on Wednesday 20th April as part of her national tour

Informal gathering for paid Administrators hosted by Rev Alan Biglow and Ms Sharyn Dobroszczyk on Tuesday 23rd March, 10.30 am – 11.30 am, at Enfield UCA.

The purpose of this first get together is to provide an informal meeting place for conversations about establishing networks of mutual support where office and other resources can be shared with each other.

Planning is in the pipeline for these events

Get together for those congregations who have heritage listed properties at Wesley Kent Town in the second half of the year

Grant writing workshop in collaboration with the Community Outreach Mission Network in June

Get together for Chairs and Secretaries of Congregations and Church Councils in July. The Urban Mission Network Bulletin would like to highlight the following events:
