Seeing Things in a New Light

Our series for Term 1 will now last for 5 weeks with the title “Seeing things in a new light.” The content is based around Geometry in Art and Architecture with some stimulating images shown on a Powerpoint to illustrate. The starting date has been delayed until March 8 and finishes April 5. Morning tea is served at 10.15am program starts at 10.30am. Cost $5.

Baby Playgroup

We now have around 20 new mothers with first-time babies attending the 12 o’clock Mums & Bubs group! They don’t all come every week, but even if half of them come, it’s a lot for one person to look after. If you would like to help give the mums a cuppa, play with a toddler or hold a baby from time to time, and you have an hour to spare between 12.15 – 1.15pm on a Monday, please let Lynona, Cogs or Marnie know.

Pancake Day 2012

We will be cooking pancakes to raise funds for UnitingCare this Wednesday and Thursday to cooincide the Community Program. We would love for volunteers to help cook pancakes, but also help in the kitchen with dishes and other tasks. A roster is available on the notice board in the foyer to place your name. Alternatively, you can give a monetary donation or provide an item to be used as toppings (such as lemons, sugar, honey or maple syrup, jam, cream, nutella, fruit etc). Otherwise come join us on either day and enjoy a pancake or two!

Women’s Social Group

This group welcomes all women for conversation and chat over tea/coffee/glass of wine and cake or a few nibbles. We will meet on Sunday February19th in the Coffee Lounge at 7pm.

Please note that this is the 3rd Sunday of the month this month not our usual 2nd Sunday evening.

We normally meet on the 2nd Sunday of the month. Our next gathering in the Church Coffee lounge will be 2nd of October 2011 from 7pm to about 9pm.

All are welcome, a great place to get to know each other and have a chat.

Lent Event 2012 Studies

Bible Study during Lent – Lent Event studies with ‘This One Life’ Journey Guide will begin on Thursday the 23rd of February 2012 at 7.30pm in the Coffee Lounge at BUC and run for 6 weeks.

Walking Group Feb 2012

Our next walk occurs on Sunday February 26. Join us at Warrawong Wildlife Sanctuary (Stock Road, Mylor) at 2:00 pm for an unguided walk through the sanctuary, exploring the pathways and observing the wildlife, before enjoying afternoon tea & coffee in the on-site cafe. Easy walking, but with some steep sections.

February 2012 Book Club

The next meeting of the Book Club will be held at the home of Thelma and Rod Pike on February 21st, 2012 at 2pm. We will discuss the book That Deadman Dance, by Kim Scott, which won the Regional Winner 2011 Commonwealth Writer’s Prize. Told through the eyes of black and white, young and old, this is a story about a fledgling Western Australian community in the early 1800s known as the “friendly frontier.” All welcome.

Urban Mission Network – Sharing Resources

The first gathering for 2012 is on Thursday February 23 at Modbury Uniting Church hosted by both Modbury and Para Vista congregations. The theme is Sharing Resources: Church and Community, with the Modbury and Para Vista congregations sharing what they have learnt as they’ve worked through their challenges, celebrated their successes and developed their local ministries. Please aim to arrive between 6.00 pm and 6.25 pm ready for the opening liturgy to centre our thoughts at 6.30 pm. World Day of Prayer 2012
